Maria joined the Space Structures group in 2014 after receiving a Masters degree in Space Engineering from Caltech. She previously completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2013. Maria’s research interests lie in deployable composite structures. She is currently working on the application of dual-matrix composites to high-performance antenna structures for CubeSats. Maria focuses on experimental characterization of the deployment of dual-matrix structures as well as finite element simulations of the quasi-static and dynamic behavior of such structures. Maria is also involved in the mechanical and optical design of the camera for the AAReST telescope project.
