Thibaud Talon joined the Space Structures Lab in 2015. He received a dual Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Caltech and Solid Mechanics from the Ecole Polytechnique in 2014. He also graduated from Polytechnique with a Diplôme d’Ingénieur (Engineering Diploma). He previously worked at Snecma, studying the friction between turbofan blades and is a former research visiting student at Caltech working with Prof. Ravichandran on the high strain rate behavior of AZ31 and PZT 52/48. Thibaud is currently working on the Space Solar Power Initiative creating innovative ways to measure the shape of a large structure in space. He is part of the AAReST project leading the programming of the algorithms required for its operations. Finally, Thibaud is the co-chair of the 2017 Caltech Space Challenge, a 5-day international student space mission design competition.
