Our research aims to develop the foundations for the successful realization and implementation of novel lightweight structures concepts and architectures. Through a combination of experiments, analysis and numerical simulation we seek to understand, explain and model the physical behavior of novel structures. We are currently focused on ultralight deployable structures for applications such as space solar power and the in-space robotic assembly of large antenna reflectors.
